Family is very important to us hence the need to open this pillar with our motto. We lead with the understanding that ‘our greatest currency is our family’ not money nor fame. Our motto is highlighted in the intentionality of care and time spent with each other. We continue to believe that our family is a direct correlation of who we are meant to be. As parents we are constantly reminded of the words “Mrs. Mattis you will never be able to biologically have children.” These words are the antithesis of parenthood. However, God had other plans. My wife and I gave birth to three children from all-natural births. This strengthens our value of gratitude and commitment for this responsibility to grow our children in the fear of the Lord. Our goal as parents is to impart to our children life skills to traverse life’s journey.
We want our readership to understand and be able to identify with us that we are an ordinary down to earth family. Our family institution is a growing edge for us. Children do not come with a manual so as they get older we continue to learn new things about them. For instance, we just found out our 14-year-old likes shrimp! and avocados! Can u believe that?! Prior to this we would offer it to him, and he would choose something else 95 percent of the time. Like many families, we have our fair share of hardships—we did not grow up with perfect families but what we have kept in focus is growth. We must grow together. It is with this mindset that we aim to learn from each other and be intentional about strengthening our bond. We believe that it is in the family that the greatest lessons are taught as well as the building of character in the way we conduct ourselves within and outside of the home. In our family:
